The Africa Research Excellence Fund (AREF) is delighted to announce a new funding opportunity for scientists in Africa: The AREF Research Development Fellowship Programme 2020.

The Research Development Fellowship (RDF) Programme is being launched to support researchers in sub-Saharan Africa who are working on important challenges for human health to develop their skills as researchers. Funding of up to £38,000 is available to support a three to nine-month placement at a leading research institution in Europe or any region of Africa, with additional support at the Fellow’s home institution before and after the placement. African post-doctoral scientists and clinicians who have been awarded their doctorate after May 2014, and clinicians with a research-relevant Master’s degree at least two and up to seven years active research experience, are eligible for this opportunity.
