Renal

The Renal WG is focused on research to evaluate the risk and predictors of acute and chronic kidney disease and medication nephrotoxicity among persons treated and untreated with HIV/AIDS in IeDEA. The Renal WG collaborates closely with the Clinical Outcomes and Site Assessment working groups, and consists of representatives from those WG as well as researchers with interest and expertise in kidney disease among persons with HIV/AIDS.

Purpose

  • To assess current data collection on kidney disease and kidney function across IeDEA regions, with a focus on sites in LMIC.
  • To promote and expand data collection on kidney disease, kidney function, and relevant comorbid conditions/ co-medications across IeDEA regions.
  • To identify risk factors for kidney disease and medication nephrotoxicity among persons with HIV/AIDS in IeDEA.
  • To conduct research on the current clinical management and outcomes of kidney disease across IeDEA regions.
